Affiliate & Commercial Disclosure
How RetroFit Leeds is funded, and how that does — and does not — affect what you see on the site.
RetroFit Leeds is an independent directory of providers offering home retrofit and energy efficiency services across Leeds and West Yorkshire. The site is free for homeowners and landlords to use. This page sets out how we are funded so you can make your own judgement about the information you read here.
Current status
As of June 2026, RetroFit Leeds is pre-revenue. No provider has paid for any listing, placement, referral or feature on this site. The commercial models below describe how the platform is intended to operate once monetisation begins. We will update this page when that happens.
How we plan to make money
1. Lead-generation fees
When a homeowner submits a quote request through the site, we will share their enquiry with one or more listed providers who match their service, area and (where relevant) property type. We will charge providers a fee for receiving these enquiries. Homeowners will never be charged.
2. Featured Provider placements
Providers will be able to pay for an enhanced, “Featured” tier. Featured providers may appear higher on directory and area pages, on the homepage’s featured-provider section, and on related service pages. Any placement that is paid for is clearly labelled Featured.
We may also explore other revenue streams in future (for example, paid placement on specific guide pages, or licensing the data we publish). If we introduce a new model, we will describe it here.
What this does not influence
- Editorial guides, service descriptions and funding information. These are written independently of any provider relationship.
- How we describe a provider in their directory listing — including their accreditations, services, areas covered, specialisms, and any limitations we’ve identified.
- How we explain grants and funding schemes — eligibility, amounts, application routes, and caveats.
- Whether a provider is listed at all. Listing decisions are based on our vetting process, not payment.
- Ratings or review counts shown on listings. These are drawn from third-party review platforms, with a link to the source on every listing.
What this does influence
- Featured placement. Once active, paying providers may appear higher on directory pages and on the homepage. Any such placement is clearly labelled Featured.
- Who receives a quote request. Once active, lead-generation routing may prioritise providers on the Featured tier when more than one match is available. Homeowners will always be told which providers received their details.
What we will not accept
- Payment to remove negative information about a provider.
- Payment to change a provider’s editorial description or our assessment of them.
- Payment to write a guide, article, or comparison piece in favour of a specific product, scheme or installer.
- Payment to suppress a competitor of a paying provider.
- Reviews written or supplied by providers and presented as independent.
