Funding eligibility check
Seven quick questions. Tells you which retrofit grants — ECO4, ECO4 Flex, the Boiler Upgrade Scheme, the Warm Homes Plan, and the Smart Export Guarantee — are worth investigating for your circumstances.
What is your relationship to the property?
Your answers stay in your browser. Nothing is sent anywhere unless you choose to request a quote at the end.
What this checks
The tool maps your answers against the published rules for:
- ECO4 — main benefits route and ECO4 Flex through your council.
- Boiler Upgrade Scheme (BUS) — £7,500 heat pump grant.
- Warm Homes: Local Grant — expected to open through your council in 2026.
- Smart Export Guarantee (SEG) — payment for solar electricity you export.
ECO4 Flex criteria vary by local authority. For West Yorkshire households we link out to Leeds, Bradford, Wakefield, Kirklees and Calderdale councils so you can check the latest local rules.
Frequently asked questions
Is the eligibility check a definitive answer?
No. It is guidance based on the published scheme rules. Final eligibility is decided by the scheme administrator (Ofgem for ECO4 and BUS), your energy supplier, your local council (for ECO4 Flex and the Warm Homes: Local Grant), or an MCS-certified installer. The check is designed to tell you which schemes are worth investigating further, not to grant or refuse anything.
What data do you collect when I use the check?
Nothing. Your answers stay in your browser and are not sent to a server. We only know you used the check if you choose to request a quote at the end, in which case the lead details (not the wizard answers) go to the matched installers along with your contact information.
How accurate is the check?
It reflects published scheme rules as of the date shown at the top of the page. Schemes change — particularly grant amounts, eligibility income thresholds, and ECO4 Flex council criteria. We re-verify the underlying rules periodically against the official scheme pages.
I am a tenant. Can I still get retrofit funding?
You can, but only with your landlord's consent. ECO4 funding can cover work in rented properties, with the landlord contributing a share of the cost. The Boiler Upgrade Scheme can only be applied for by the property owner. If you rent, we suggest sharing the results of this check with your landlord and asking whether they would be willing to apply.
I do not know my EPC rating — can I still use the tool?
Yes. Pick "Don't know" — the check will still work and will suggest that confirming your EPC is a useful first step. You can find any EPC issued for your property on the official government EPC register for free.
